Established in 2005, by Daniel Chávez Morán, the Vidanta Foundation promotes outstanding humanitarian efforts to reduce poverty and inequality throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. The organization awards grants to individuals and non-profits that champion a diverse variety of causes-from healthcare to education to equal rights-through innovative efforts and programs.

This non-profit foundation promotes a greater understanding of key issues impacting Latin America and the Caribbean’s economic and social development by financially empowering individuals and organizations dedicated to social change every year. The Foundation seeks to foster humanitarian values among the population, galvanizing public policy while also promoting corporate philanthropy and social responsibility.

Each year hundreds of applications are submitted for the Vidanta Foundation Awards. The applicants are evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges comprised of distinguished experts based on an innovative concept or execution, the measurable results or impact of the project, and the capacity for it to be sustainable and replicated in other places. Three individual recipients are selected to receive cash rewards for original projects and initiatives that reduce poverty and eliminate inequality in Latin America.

The Vidanta Foundation Award was created through a joint initiative of the Organization of American States (OAS), the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB), and the Vidanta Foundation. All awards are financed in their entirety by the Vidanta Foundation.

The Vidanta Foundation has worked with leading organizations in Latin America and around the globe on initiatives to encourage growth and public understanding of key issues in the region, including partnerships with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Latin American Council for International Relations, the Inter-American Dialogue, Colegio de México (COLMEX), Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE), and more.
